New version of List Item Filter and Content By Type web parts available

I have just published a new version of the Content By Type and the List Item Filter web parts.

The most important general changes:

  1. The web part are now registered by activating a site collection feature. If you upgrade from a previous version, you will probably need to active the site collection feature “Content By Type and Filter Web Parts” after installation.

Web parts are now available in the “Community Web Parts” group.
  2. The package now also includes the Page Column filter web part that I published before. This way the web part package will have several filter web parts to filter the contents of the Content By Type web part.

Changes for the List Item Filter web part v1.1:

  • Added XSLT as new DisplayMode. This allows you to create your own xslt to render the filter items.
  • Improved performance on page postbacks, to prevent the web part from re-loading all list items. (thanks Bob!)
  • Improved handling of configuration changes thanks Bob!)
  • Ability to hide the web part title (thanks Bob!)
  • Bugfix for the "Value does not fall within the expected range" error.
  • Bugfixes in the toolpane when loading the selected list
  • Added some comments to the toolpane to clarify the list url (for WSS)

Changes for the Content By Type web part v1.22:

  • Support for custom field types (thanks René!)
  • Support for RightToLeft languages (column alignment and bugfix in query generation)
That was a nice challenge to test the web part in Hebrew :-).

Special thanks to Bob Millar and René Hészer for helping me on this release.

Source code?

Hi I was wondering if you might consider making your source code available for this.

Either that or maybe you would know how I can make a small change to it?  I simply want to remove the search button.

Is there a way I can do this just given the web part executable?
Thanks.

Source code / Search button

The latest version (1.3) has the option to hide the search button. See this post for more details:

The linked CodePlex site also contains the code, in case you want to make another change.
